Additional Knowledge





Infrared radiation carries energy as well as the other electromagnetic waves. 





An object which are good absorbers are also good emitters of the same kind of radiation.




 All the waves in electromagnetic spectrum are similar in property but different in frequency, wavelength and method production.

ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES; COMMON PROPERTIES

  • They can travel in a vacuum of a speed of 3x10m/s.
  • They are transverse waves.
  • They carry energy from one place to another.
  • They do not refuse a medium to travel.
  • They obey the wave equation. They show refraction, reflection, absorption and interference.



EM waves are arranged according to their wavelength and frequency.



GAMMA RAYS


This have the shortest wavelength and highest frequency.


RADIO WAVES


This on the other-hand, have the longest wavelength and lowest frequency.


Waves with short wavelengths like gamma rays, X rays, and ultraviolet rays have high energy and can be very dangerous!!!
